This refurbished unit pairs two 10-Gigabit SFP+ uplinks with four Gigabit ports and doubles the modular capacity of the 1RU models: two service module slots and two network interface module slots in one chassis.

That headroom is the point of the 2RU platform. Its 12-core CPU drives up to 18.8 Gbps of SD-WAN IPsec throughput — roughly nine times the 1G-WAN models — with 6,000 overlay tunnels, 512K firewall sessions, and 4,000 VRFs, so a single box can terminate a serious SD-WAN fabric or run autonomous IOS XE routing at the edge of a campus. The SM/NIM/PIM slots accept Cisco interface, voice, and compute modules for WAN diversity, cellular backup, or local services.

Every Catalyst 8300 ships with dual AC power supplies for redundancy, 8 GB of DRAM (upgradable to 32 GB), and 16 GB of M.2 storage, and runs in autonomous mode or under Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manager with Trustworthy Solutions 2.0 secure boot and SUDI hardware identity built in.

Key specifications

2 x 10-Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ ports + 4 x 1-Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports, all Layer 3

Expansion: 2 x Service Module (SM) slots, 2 x Network Interface Module (NIM) slots, 1 x Pluggable Interface Module (PIM) slot

SD-WAN IPsec throughput up to 18.8 Gbps; autonomous IPsec up to 18.9 Gbps; IPv4 forwarding up to 19.7 Gbps

512K firewall sessions, 4,000 VRFs, 1.6M IPv4 routes (default memory), 6,000 SD-WAN overlay tunnels

12-core CPU; 8 GB DRAM default (up to 32 GB), 16 GB M.2 storage, 8 GB onboard flash

Dual AC power supplies installed (all Catalyst 8300 platforms ship with redundant PSUs)

Cisco IOS XE (minimum release 17.3.2) — autonomous or Catalyst SD-WAN controller mode

2U rack-mountable: 3.5 x 17.25 x 18.52 in; 40 lb with both power supplies and fan tray

Operating temperature 32 to 104°F (0 to 40°C)

What's included: Refurbished Cisco Catalyst C8300-2N2S-4T2X edge router with dual AC power supplies and fan tray installed.
